About Me
My Story
I’m a passionate advocate and collaborative health care professional. During my work as dietitian in the community, my clients shared their experiences of weight discrimination or sizeism and how that impacted their lives, opportunities and their health. This led me to my current role in research with the mission of improving access to safe, compassionate, quality health care, free of discrimination for everyBODY.

My Advocacy
Ongoing work
Manitobans Against Weight Stigma
I founded Manitobans Against Weight Stigma in 2016 with two goals, 1) to increase awareness of weight discrimination or sizeism, and 2) to advocate for recognition of weight, height and physical characteristics in the Manitoba Human Rights Code.
Weight stigma is judgement/prejudice/discrimination towards a person or group based on their weight, shape or size. Unfortunately, this is commonly seen in the health care system, at workplaces and in the general public. Weight discrimination can lead to poorer mental AND physical health. Therefore, sizeism is an important human rights issue.
